Our History

Since 1946 the Santa Fe Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America has served youth throughout 19 counties in southwest Kansas. Being a faith-based Scouting program, we prepare youth to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Santa Fe Trail Council’s vision is to serve youth and their families through fun, engaging and challenging  programs that promote and teach strong morals, values, and character. We leverage leadership education and outdoor adventures to give boys and girls skills that last a lifetime.

The West Scout Center, and  Mandan Scout Camp and Training Center, serve these youth and adults throughout the year. The continued success of the council is due to strong support from a multitude of adult leaders who unselfishly give their time, talent, and wisdom to youths at weekly meetings and or activities.  Our adult leaders are committed to positively impacting the lives of our youth including how they view themselves, each other and authority figures.
